Esperance triathlon / BRW

Just back from a great weekend down in Esperance for the Classic Olympic Distance Triathlon which was part of the WA state series this year. Thanks To Melisa Rowe, Scotty Wallace, Shannon Dixon and Brian Sylva from the Esperance Triathlon club for looking after me over the weekend. Esperance is a great place to train with beautiful beaches and a strong triathlon club.

The race went well and came away with a win with a strong performance from Shannon who came 2nd. Looking forward to seeing Shannon stepping up next year with some top performances in the open category.

Also joined the KPMG team last week to win the BRW/Nissan Corporate Triathlon.

Looking forward to the last race of the Telstra triathlon series this week at Hillarys.

Keep training!!!

RACE UPDATE

A quick update from the weekend. Good results from PMAS with a 2nd place from Troy Main, 3rd place from Mikala Falconer and a 4th place from Leighton Cook. Strong performance by Troy on the bike putting 40s into me going into T2, only managed to catch him with a 2ks to go on the run. Good news is that I have now wrapped up the Trievents series for 2012.

Looking forward to a big week of racing from the squad at Devonport on the weekend - the squad is in great form and looking forward to big performances from Mikala, Jesse Thyer and Ben Lyons.

BUSSO 2012

I have finally decided on my plans in the lead up to WA's most iconic triathlon event Busselton 70.3.

The plan is relatively simple - follow a similar program to last year, drop a run session and add another bike session with as many k's as possible running off the bike at Busso half marathon pace.

In the lead up to the event, I have finalised my race schedule of which most races, I'll be using as hard hit-outs on the bike, to get stronger in the lead up to the race. Race schedule as follows:
  • Trievents Rockingham: 4 March
  • Esperance OD State series: 18 March
  • Trievents Hillarys: 25 March
  • Bibra Lake TT: Good Friday
  • State 80K TT: Easter Monday
Ideally, the plan is to get strong enough on the bike so that I am fresh for the run, when the real fun begins :)
